How Do I Clean And Restore My Porsche Headlights?

Your Porsche headlights are designed with an ultra-violent coating so that they last a very long time. However they may become oxidized, dull or yellow due to pollution, sunlight, chemicals and road salt. When this happens, the headlights will not be as effective and it may cause you visibility problems especially at night. Using Toothpaste

 Yes, you read right. Using toothpaste to restore your headlights is a very easy and inexpensive method. Not only that, but the condition of your headlights after using toothpaste leave you smiling. The reason behind this is that toothpaste is made with gentle abrasion characteristics. The way it clears out plaque from your teeth is the same way it eliminates oxidation from the lenses in your headlights.

It is very simple and all you need is some standard toothpaste and a piece of cloth. Make sure the toothpaste you use does not have crystals as they will scratch the lens. Apply a little toothpaste on the cloth and start polishing the lens until you notice improvements. When the headlight is clear, you should clean it properly and polish.

Using Baking Soda And Vinegar

 The mixture formed when you add vinegar to baking soda is a cleaning agent that you may have used at some point in your house. The same combination can be used to clean and restore your headlights. Just like toothpaste, this combination helps to clear away dullness from your headlights.

Before you start the process, make sure your headlights are clean and dry. This helps to prevent scratching of the lenses in case there is dirt on your headlights. After that you can mix the baking soda with vinegar. You can then dip a piece of cloth in the mixture and start rubbing your headlights. When you finish rubbing, clean the headlights and polish them. You should be able to see a huge difference in the appearance of your headlights.

Using Restoration Kits

 If your headlights are not only dull and foggy but are also scratched, then toothpaste or the mixture of baking soda and vinegar might not be sufficient. You might have to purchase a restoration kit. These kits are simple to use, not expensive and work perfectly.

 Place tape around the headlights. This helps to prevent you from rubbing of paint. Then begin wet sanding the headlights changing the sand papers to the finer ones. Continue sanding until the headlights look clean and have a low sheen. After that you should apply a small amount of the polish to the piece of cloth from the restoration kit. With this cloth polish the headlights and use a little more energy while at it. The headlights should now be much brighter, but wait till you see them after sealing. The final step will be to seal the headlights. However you should spray the headlights with lenses cleaner and leave for approximately ten minutes before sealing. This helps to open up the pores of the headlights so as to prepare them for sealing. Take another clean and dry piece of cloth and apply the sealant on the headlights from side to side. After you finish, your headlights will be as good as new.
