This can then be very problematic for you because it can put your life at risk.  There are instances that specifically call for windshield wiper replacement.

Inspecting Your Wipers

It is important to regularly inspect your wipers. The wiper blades, being made out of rubber, is prone to wear and tear. This is true even if you do not use the windshield wiper very often. Make sure too that you replace the blades at least once every six to 12 months. The reason why you have to inspect the blades is to ensure that it is not heavily worn out or cracked. If this is the case, the blades will not grip on the windshield properly. With such a situation, it will be impossible for the wiper to remove debris, dirt, leaves, and moreover the windshield.

Take note that windshield wiper blades take on a tough job during the winter months. Having to deal with rain, snow, and sleet at this time, they will definitely have a heavy beating in this extreme weather condition. You can always check with your manual to know more about proper care of your windshield wipers.

Replacing Windshield Wipers

This is a very simple task but is often overlooked by many people. In case you are not confident that you can do it then you can always call a professional for help. When you are ready to do the task on your own, all you need to do is start by measuring the blade length or refer to the car's manual so that you can get the correct blade size.

Remove the old wiper by lifting the wiper arm first. There is a small tab found on the wiper's underside. You need to depress this part. Once you have depressed the tab, you can easily remove the wiper blade by pulling it downward off the wiper arm.

Attaching the New Wiper Blade

When you are done removing the old wiper blade then you are about ready to install the new one. All you need to do is pull the wiper blade so that it will hold tightly onto the wiper arm. You will hear a clicking sound which means that it has been locked into place. Lower the arm gently back onto the windshield.

Make sure that you test the wipers to check if they work properly right after installation. It is better to test the wipers now instead of just doing so once you are driving under a heavy downpour. After all, the entire process is just fairly simple to do. It will not take too much of your time testing the wipers. In case you notice that there is something wrong you can check to make sure the blades are holding tightly enough on the wiper.
