Coolant Composition

This must be in line with the antifreeze protection at temperatures of -24oC to -41oC. Note that the minimum permissible mixing ratio of water to antifreeze is 70:30 and the maximum permissible mixing ratio 40:60.

Further increment of the antifreeze proportion is not necessary as it does not lower the freezing point. On the other hand, undiluted antifreeze freezes at -13o C and is not as efficient in absorbing excess engine heat at temperatures above 0oC. When this happens, your Porsche engine will overheat. Owing to the fact that glycol has a very high boiling point and using the right mixing ratio of water to antifreeze, the boiling point of the coolant can be raised up to 135oC.

Water of drinking quality should be used to create the coolant mixture. The reason behind this is that the mixed drinking water used only has a maximum water hardness of 20 o dH. Additives And Change Intervals

The coolant and its additives get used up with time. This is because, over the years they are subjected to normal wear and tear. For instance, if the coolant turns brown, it indicates that the additives that are in charge of preventing corrosion may have been used up. As a result of this wearing, some manufacturers have specified a fixed coolant replacement interval of 5years for example. However, if you own a new Porsche model it may be filed with long-life coolants. This means that you may not need to replace the coolant unless there is contamination.
